Evanna Lynch » Luna Lovegood » Appearance and Personality

Described as constantly distracted and daydreaming, Luna Lovegood has waist-length dirty blonde hair, silvery grey eyes and faint eyebrows; she is described off-hand as "pretty", although slightly odd. Her voice has been described as dreamy and faint, giving off a "distinct dottiness" and vaguety. Harry also observes that she does not "blink as often" as is seen 'normal'. She regularly puts her wand behind her ear for safekeeping.

Dressing away from the norm, Luna opts for odd and unique pieces of jewellery and clothing. Her most famous accessories include a butterbeer cork necklace, radish earrings and Spectrespecs. Due to the fact that students tend to steal her clothing and shoes, she rarely wears shoes. She openly supports Gryffindor during Quidditch matches, except in matches against Ravenclaw. Keeping in with her quirky behaviour, she created and built an enormous hat, in the shape of a lion which roars; she also has a giant eagle hat with flapping wings for Ravenclaw mathes.

Open-minded, unique and seemingly odd, Luna possesses many beliefs and traits, which in combination, earn her name the nickname "Loony Lovegood" and for being considered strange. Being in Ravenclaw, she is intelligent and is unerringly perceptive; Harry comments that she has a "knack for embarrassing honesty". She rarely raises her voice or speaks without a 'whispy' tone, unless she is in defence of her father's magazine. She is comforting, kind and clear in situations which could be seen as chaotic and tense.

Although other students mock, steal and hide her things, she does not allow these instances to dissuade her from her positive and optimistic demeanour. She is incredibly accepting and open to all people; she is fiercely loyal to the few friends she has, especially Harry. As a Ravenclaw student, it is assumed that she is an incredibly powerful and skilled witch, remaining relatively unscathed throughout all her major battles. She is a leader and a positive role model, helping Neville and Ginny revive Dumbledore's Army under the supervision of the Death Eaters. It is debated whether or not Luna was able to produce her full body patronus in her fourth year; she is able, by her sixth, to produce her patronus, a hare.

She is the antithesis of the logical and clear Hermione Granger.
